Burris Dewane Mooney 10/09/1933 – 4/09/2022 Burris Dewane Mooney, 88, of Moss Bluff passed from this life April 9th, 2022 in the comfort of his home. Dewane served 26 years in the United States Navy – CBS (Seabees) and was a veteran of 3 wars, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. Dewane enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and picking at his family and friends, especially his siblings. He was loved by his family and he adored his beautiful wife, Pixie, of 45 years. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Margaret (Pixie) Lorraine Mooney, his brothers Robert (Jean) Mooney, Terry (Cynthia) Mooney, Donald Verhalen and sisters Mayann (Tim) Vinson and Carol Scott; children, Burris D. Mooney Jr., Timothy (Shelly) Mooney and Elaine (Tina) Mooney: Stepsons Jack (Rita) Wright and Marshal D. Wright and mother of his children and friend, Kathleen Leno; Five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Dewane is preceded in death by his parents, Louis F. Mooney and Helen Sullivan Verhalen, stepmother Anna K. Mooney, his son Raymond H. Mooney, brother Louis R. Mooney, sister, Debra M. Hieserich and stepson Roy M. Wright. The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice, especially Anne Marie and Brandy and caregiver Sheila Sepulvado for their compassionate care of Dewane. A family grave-site service will be held at Lindley Prairie Cemetery, Bear Creek MO at a later date.
