Edley Anthony Guidry, 79, of LeBleu Settlement, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23rd, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and deep relationships. He was born on May 10, 1946, in LeBleu Settlement, Louisiana, to Elza “Pecheu” A. Guidry and Violet “Teeneh” Mary LeBleu Guidry. Edley spent his entire life in the community he loved.

Edley served in the United States Army Reserve beginning in 1966. He worked for Service Glass for over 30 years, building a reputation for precision, diligence, and skill. In addition to his career, he was a small-field farmer and, after retiring from Service Glass, opened his own glass shop, continuing to serve others through his trade. In 1972, Edley married Goldie Jean Williams, and they shared many years together until her passing in 2001. He later married Betty Ogden.

In 1987, Edley experienced a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ. By grace through faith, his life was radically transformed. From his son’s perspective, Beau has often said, “I woke up the next morning with a completely different dad.” From that point forward, his life was radically changed, he became a devoted student of God’s Word and a faithful leader in his local church. He served as a Sunday School director and Cub Scout leader, investing in others with both truth and care.

Edley was known for his authenticity, generosity, and love for people. He was a friend to many and found great joy in the outdoors. His camp was always open during hunting season, his black iron pot was always cooking something good, and the stories were endless. Many gathered there over the years, including his longtime neighbor E.C. Wilder and sons Errol and Brian, Don Manuel, E.J. Fruge, Jasper Hay, Larry Vidrine, Larry Langley, Bradley Geiger, Terry LeBleu, Mitchell LeBleu, Bobbie Hunt, and his son, Beau Guidry. Those stories told of hunting adventures, boat building with his father, working for Mr. Willis as a boy, his Army training, and cherished memories with his best friend and first cousin, Jasper. He often spoke of childhood friendships with Arden, Junior, Larry, Vic, E.J., Kenneth, and many others. Edley had a passion for restoring old things—especially firearms, John Deere tractors, and Johnson/Evinrude outboard motors. He was deeply loved by his neighbors and friends.

He is survived by his son, Beau Guidry (Olivia) of Moss Bluff, Louisiana; one stepson, Larry Langley; one stepdaughter, Cindy Langley Tunstall; two grandchildren, Eli and Eden; and three step-grandchildren, Mandi, Travis, and Jade. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Ann Bean of Iowa.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Goldie Jean Guidry; his sister, Evelyn Guidry Fontenot; and other beloved family members.

From 2020 until his passing, Edley battled dementia. As the disease progressed and required him to be placed in a care facility, his memories—especially of earlier years—remained vivid for a time. Though he was often unable to recognize his son in his final years, it was a comfort to hear him speak of Beau with such fondness and affection. What dementia tried to take, by grace eternity has now fully and perfectly restored. Edley was not a perfect man, nor would he have claimed to be—but he was genuine, deeply loved, and faithful to the end. He will be greatly missed.

The Guidry family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care he received at Holly Hill House Care Facility and from the staff of Harbor Hospice.

His memorial service will be on Thursday, April 30, at 6:30pm, with a time of visitation from 5:30pm until time of service, at Heritage Funeral Home.
