Evelyn Jane Courville

Evelyn Jane Courville, 85, of Lake Charles, passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, October 23, 2026.  Her family welcomes you to celebrate a life well-lived on Wednesday, October 28, at 2:00pm, with a time of visitation from 10:00am until time of service, at Heritage Funeral Home.  Interment will be at Hebert Cemetery in Hecker(Iowa), Louisiana.  Rev. Jeff Ralston will officiate.

Evelyn leaves behind a legacy of loving and trusting God through all of life's troubles.  When she buried her first child, she trusted God, and He carried her.  When she buried her second child, she trusted God, and He carried her.  When she buried her third child, she trusted God, and He carried her.  When there was no money, she trusted God, and He provided.  When there was no food, she trusted God, and He provided.  When people hurt her, she forgave them as Christ had forgiven her.  Her single greatest accomplishment was pointing people to Jesus.  

Evelyn is survived by her son Jerry Penna & Cathy; nine grandchildren, Ashleigh Clark & Eric, Brandon Fontenot & Stacy, Bradley Fontenot, Blake Fontenot & Kristin, Matthew Penna & Haley, Derek Penna & Sarah, Michael Penna, Heather Penna, and Holly Wenzel & Joey; fifteen great-grandchildren; son-in-law Donald Fontenot; best friend Debbie Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wayne & Antoinette "Tony" Hebert; loving husband Dave; three children, Cindy Penna, Greg Penna, and Cheryl Fontenot; one grandson Brian Fontenot; and sister Linda Gail Schwaibold.
