John Anthony Terrell
05/13/1956 – 03/10/2020
John "Tony" Terrell, 63, of Moss Bluff, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020 in Lake Charles. His visitation
will be Friday, March 13, from 6-8pm at First Baptist Church in Moss Bluff. Funeral services will be Saturday,
March 14 at 10am at First Baptist Church. Rev. Steve Bennett and Rev. Jack Tillery will officiate.
Tony Terrell, a resident of Moss Bluff, was born to James and the late Melba Terrell on May 13, 1956. He met
and married his loving wife of 35 years, Joanie, and together they had three sons and seven grandchildren. Tony
loved to build things. Whether it was cars or houses, if it wasn't broken, he would break it just so he could fix it.
He built homes across Southwest Louisiana with his brother, Jimmy, for many years. He passed on his love of
building to his sons, who continue his legacy of hard work, craftsmanship and generosity in all things. Tony
never met a stranger. He loved getting to know people and endeared himself to others through his unique and
memorable stories. He could often be found working on his tractor, usually in service to others, or taking care of
animals of many kinds. Above all, his generous and giving spirit was evident in how he loved and served his
family, friends and all who had the joy to know him.
Tony is survived by his wife, Joanie Terrell of Moss Bluff; three sons, Brent Vest & LaVerne of Moss Bluff,
Ryan Terrell & Taryn of Gillis, and Chance Terrell and fiancé Peyton Robertson of Lake Charles; seven
grandchildren, Ethan Vest, Evan Vest, Everett Vest, Piper Terrell, Tripp Terrell, Archer Terrell, and Rowan
Terrell; father, James Terrell of Moss Bluff; and two siblings, Jimmy Terrell & Lisa of Moss Bluff, and Cheryl
Terrell Shafer Nunez of Carlyss.
Through the years, he formed many precious friendships. One couple, however, always held a special place in
his heart. Larry and Theresa Robideaux were loyal, steadfast and Christ-centered friends to Tony. Presently,
Larry's health has deteriorated, and Theresa is his full-time caregiver, along with caring for their young
daughter. In laying Tony to rest, we ask to honor his memory and his friendship with Larry and Theresa with
donations for the Robideaux Family in lieu of flowers. Donations can be made online at
