Obituary

Johnny Lewis Mancil 2/13/1974 – 8/30/2023 Johnny Lewis Mancil entered the presence of his Savior, Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, where he had received treatment for the last five years. Johnny was born on February 13, 1974 to Wallace and Edith Mancil in Deridder, LA. First and foremost, Johnny was a Christian. He was a wonderful husband and father to his family. Johnny was a quiet spirit who lived out his faith boldly. Johnny was truly a reflection of his Savior, consistently displaying the fruits of the Spirit. He loved his Savior and his neighbor. He was joyful amidst trials. He was peaceful in the storms of this life and patient in all circumstances. Johnny was kind to all. He was faithful and self-controlled to the end and displayed God's goodness as he served others before himself. His life was testimony to everyone who was blessed to know him. Johnny worked for the Beauregard Waterworks Company District 3 after working for The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Johnny was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting deer and turkey and tending to his farm. He most enjoyed time spent with his wife Elisabeth, and their son, Jesse. Johnny was a student of God's Word. He loved reading and teaching Scripture and sharing his faith with family and friends. Johnny served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at First Baptist Church Longville, where he'd been a member for 19 years. Preceding him in death are paternal grandparents Geneo Mancil and Jessie Lee Cloud Montgomery, and maternal grandparents John Lincoln Stracener and Essie Mae Mayo Stracener. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 13 years, Elisabeth Susan Mancil of DeRidder, LA; son, Jackson Jesse Mancil; his father and mother, Wallace, Sr. and Edith Faye Mancil of DeRidder, LA; brothers Dewayne (Cara) Mancil, David Mancil, Wallace, Jr. (Chasity) Mancil, Jimmy Mancil, Randy Mancil; sister, Tina Tucker and husband Eric, and a host of extended family members. His visitation will be Monday, September 4, from 4-8pm at First Baptist Church in Longville. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 5, at 10am at First Baptist Church in Longville. Interment will be at Lonestar Cemetery in Pitkin. Revs. Corey Townsley and Johnny Johnson will officiate, under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home.
