Joshua Cale Casey, 43, of Moss Bluff, went in peace to be with the Lord on January 27, 2026. His funeral service will be Tuesday, February 3, at 2:00pm, with a time of visitation from 10:00am until time of service, at Heritage Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at 1:00pm. Interment will be at Old Ritchie Cemetery. Father Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate.
Joshua was born August 6, 1982 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to his loving parents, Catherine Broussard Casey and Russell Dale Casey. He was a lifelong resident of Moss Bluff, where he graduated from Sam Houston High School in 2000 and grew up attending St. Theodore Catholic Church. His childhood was filled with love and a strong sense of family and community. After graduating high school, Josh attended Louisiana State University and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. If you knew Josh, you knew he bled purple and gold – particularly when it came to Tiger football and baseball. There was no greater joy for Josh than sitting under the stadium lights at Death Valley or Alex Box Stadium with loved ones – especially his dad. Josh was also often known to be a skilled barbecue pitmaster, making some of the best food you’ve ever had. His best girl, a boxer named Kiki, was never far behind. Josh later joined the United States Airforce, where he served a tour in Iraq and was stationed at Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogorda, New Mexico. He was given an Airmen of the Year award before being honorably discharged after four years of service. Josh obtained his degree from Sowela Technical Community College and enjoyed a career as an instrument and electrical designer. He spent much of his time traveling, and loved spending time with his nephew Graham and niece Anna Catherine. He was such a proud “Nonc”, and they think he hung the moon.
Joshua is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Nora Duplechin Broussard and Kenneth Broussard, paternal grandparents, Barbara Koonce Casey and Walter “Buddy” Casey, and uncle Michael Broussard.
He is survived by his parents Cathy and Dale Casey, his brother Jason (Kari), nephew Graham, niece Anna Catherine, godmother Tammy Broussard, cousin Taylor Broussard Ball (Scott), and great-niece Harper Gianna.
Pallbearers are Jason Casey, Brad Robbins, Toot Reeves, Chad Hebert, Kenny Stratton, and Kevin Gardner. Honorary pallbearers are Graham Casey and Bowie Robbins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) at https://namilouisiana.org/.
