Judy Ann Acheson

Judy Ann Bratcher Acheson, 78, of Ragley, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2026 in Lake Charles. Judy was born on October 7, 1947, in Hope, Arkansas.  She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother and great-grandmother.  Judy shared 60 cherished years of marriage with her beloved husband, Don.  Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, family, countless adventures, and many precious memories.  Don was always by her side, caring for her with unwavering love and devotion.

Her life was marked by a love story that began when she was just 19 years old.  With a brave heart and a future filled with hope, she boarded a bus to Jacksonville, North Carolina, to marry the love of her life on November 25, 1966.  That journey was the beginning of an incredible 60 years of marriage, six decades of building a life, raising a family, weathering life's seasons, and growing old together.

Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Donald "Don" Acheson of Ragley; two daughters, Donna Scallan & Keith of West Monroe and Penny Acheson & Matt of West Monroe; three sisters, Patsy "Pat" Morrison of Shreveport, Cora Bratcher of Westlake, and Wanda Sue Bratcher of Sulphur; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and other cherished family members.  A special thank you goes to her dear friend Jackie Shephard for her loyalty and friendship.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Barney "BJ" & Mattie Pearl Hampton Bratcher; daughter Tammy Lynn Acheson; and brother Jerry Bratcher.

Her visitation will be Wednesday, September 23, from 2:00-6:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home.  Visitation will continue on Thursday, September 24, from 9:00am until time of service.  Funeral services will be Thursday, September 24, at 1:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake.  Revs. Lloyd Carroll & Mandi Conrad will officiate.
