Maureen Greenleaf Liles
02/05/1945 – 08/19/2020
Maureen Elaine Greenleaf Liles, 75, of Lake Charles died on Wednesday August,19, 2020 at Memorial
Hospital Lake Charles as a result of complications from COVID-19. Maureen was born in Lake Charles,
Louisiana on February 5, 1945. She graduated from LaGrange Highschool and, of course, purple remained her
favorite color her entire life. Before Maureen retired she worked as a banker in New Orleans at Hibernia Bank.
When she wasn't working Maureen enjoyed sewing and made most of her daughter's prom dresses! She was
also a prolific crafter and known for her homemade Christmas ornaments and decorations. A devoted Church
member she loved singing soprano in numerous church choirs and her voice is what her daughter, nieces, and
nephews cherish. She was a long-term member of First Baptist Church Moss Bluff and was passionate about
making shoeboxes for Samaritan's Purse. Those left to remember her are her daughter, Marla Liles Mayberry
and husband Timothy Mayberry of Pembroke Pines, FL; a brother, Dr. Wayne Greenleaf and wife Andree of
Ventress, LA; a sister Loretta Greenleaf of Westlake LA; and numerous nieces and nephews who she
adored. She was preceded in death by her parents A.J. and Irene Butard Greenleaf, as well as her sister Yvonne
Belle Greenleaf.
During this time of Covid-19 and the devastating losses that are occurring no memorial service is planned,
however Maureen wanted her ashes to be scattered in Arizona. She loved Samaritan's Purse and any
contributions to them in her name would truly be a blessing.
