Michael Glenn Brown
05/27/1954 – 07/29/2019
Michael "Mike" Glenn Brown found peace at his eternal home, surrounded by his loving family,
July, 29th at 6:30am at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont Texas.
He was born May 27th, 1954 to Paul and Wanda "Pete" Brown in Reeves, Louisiana.
He began his long-term career at 19 years old when he was hired at Reynolds (now known as
Alcoa) in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He made life-long friends that are now a part of his family
after he retired with 35 years in the workforce. After retirement, he put his entrepreneur skills to
the test, and started Mike's Wrecker Service, where he would build the business until he was
ready to hand it off to his son.
Mike's greatest asset was his heart; it was nearly too big for his body. He never met a stranger,
and would give the shirt off his back to make sure someone else was clothed. He had a passion
for his family and did everything in his power to ensure longevity.
One of Mike's greatest passions was taking all of his children fishing and hunting, to make sure
he was always there for the first catch or kill. Every year he would make sure he took off of work
to make time with his family for exploring the great outdoors.
Mike loved doing anything that involved working with his hands. He was a self-taught mechanic,
carpenter, and home builder. There wasn't anything he was afraid to learn.
He could build a home all by himself and build a vehicle from the frame up to the engine without
hesitation. This is a skill he would pass down to his sons: to do everything with excellence, and
never let a challenge go unaccepted.
Mike loved his family and made sure he spent time with them. You would always find him every
holiday and reunion frying fish, making homemade ice cream or grilling food for the family
behind his BBQ pit grill. If there was one thing he was always up to doing, it was eating good
food. You were considered lucky if you got the opportunity to eat his famous brisket, which
made the best pit masters look like amateurs. He also loved to boil crabs and crawfish on the
back porch for his wife, Karla.
Mike is survived by his wife of 13 years, Karla Brown. Cherishing his memories are his three
beloved sons, Jeremy Brown & Serina, Jonathan Brown, and Jacob Brown & Ashley; the mother
of his three sons, Phyllis Holley & Archie; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; father
Paul V. Brown & Billie Jean; sisters, Paula Pooser & Kenny, Sandra Cornner & Tony; and
acknowledged sister, Lynette Leblanc & Tim; his sister-in-law Cheryl White & Bill; and his
brother-in-law Michael William Walsh. Also left to cherish his memories is his beloved dog,
Bonnie Denise (a miniature dapple dachshund), and host of family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Denise Rion Brown, and brother-in-law Robert
Kenneth Walsh.
The Family would like to thank the ER, Trinity Tower Staff and Chaplins of Memorial Hermann
Baptist Hospital of Beaumont for above and beyond care of their beloved Mike.
Mike's visitation will be Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 4-9pm at Heritage Funeral Home. His
funeral service will be Thursday, August 1, at 11am at Heritage Funeral Home. Interment will
be at Old Ritchie Cemetery.
