Mike Troy Tullos

Mike Troy Tullos, born in Harvey, LA. resident of Lake Charles, LA. passed away, peacefully at his home,
after a courageous 3-1/2 yearlong battle with cancer. Mike's wishes to be cremated have been honored.
A celebration of life will be held at Heritage Funeral Home in Moss Bluff at 1315 Parish Rd. on Saturday, June
1, 2019. Visitation will begin at 1 PM continuing to 9 PM. Pastor Jerry Snider of Christian World Ministries
will officiate the service beginning at 4 PM.
Mike is survived by his partner of 3 years & fiancé Mary Ann Schexneider; Daughter, Elizabeth Marie Ogea &
grandson Dax William Bourgeois; Son, Jake Manning Tullos & granddaughter Kylee Jade Tullos along with
grandson Tyson Manning Tullos; three sisters, Linda Tullos Winfree & Phyllis Tullos Young both of Houston
TX., Lois Monceaux LaFosse of Crowley, LA.; two brothers Joe Fred Tullos & Tod Jay Tullos both of Lake
Charles; His very close friends William "Billy" Taylor, Donald "Bubba" LaRocca & Robert "T-Boy" LaFleur.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents Fred & Fannie Tullos; Best friends Ricky Boudreaux & Danny
LaRocca.
Mike earned his GED and began his career in 1978 working for Marlin Drilling in Woodville, TX. where he
assisted in building drilling rigs that were shipped across the U.S. Then in 1980, Mike went to work for
HOMCO in Lake Charles, LA. where he learned the technique of applying tungsten carbide on milling tools for
downhole oilfield applications. Mike eventually started his own company Mike's Hard Metal & Fabrication
where he continued to build milling tools for oilfield applications. During a downturn in the oil industry, Mike
became interested working with trees and desired to become an arborist. He then obtained his arborist license
and became owner/operator of Mike's Tree Service & Stump Grinding, where he was hard working and
dedicated, providing service to the lake area for over 35 years.
Mike had a big heart with one of his passions being helping others in need. He was an avid LSU & New
Orleans Saints football fan and enjoyed watching the games from the comfort of his recliner. Mike enjoyed
listening to Elvis Presley music and had a passion for classic American muscle cars. He was creative in his
joking ways with friends and family while always good for a laugh. Mike will truly be missed by his family and
friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations, in the form of check or money order, be made to the Patrick F.
Taylor Hope Lodge, C/O Ken Richmond, 2609 River Rd. New Orleans, LA. 70121, where Mike was afforded
comfortable lodging during his visits to Ochsner's Hospital.
