Rodney Paul Cornett, 40, of Moss Bluff, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021, at his home. A memorial
service will be Tuesday, August 10, at 6pm at First Baptist Church in Gillis. Rev. Glenn George will officiate.
When Rodney "Rockin Rod" entered a room, everyone knew. He was definitely one of a kind. Music was in
his blood and he loved everything about it: listening to it, playing instruments and even building guitars.
Rodney, "Sky Hog Rod", was also an adrenaline junkie and loved extreme sports and outdoor activities like
skydiving, scuba diving, motorcycle racing, paintball and deep-sea fishing. A lifelong resident of the Moss
Bluff area, he lived life to the fullest, savoring every moment he could with family and friends. He was known
for his brutal honesty and was extremely loyal, always there for those he loved.
Rodney is survived by two daughters, Victoria Cornett of Sulphur and Marion Jane Cornett of Moss Bluff;
mother Cheryl Potter Cornett of Baton Rouge; father Roger Cornett of Topsy; two siblings, Monica Cornett &
Chris Daniels of Gaffney, SC, and Charles Richard "Ricky" Cornett of Baton Rouge; niece Angelle Reeves;
nephew Lee May; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and great childhood friends.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Theo & Barbara Cornett; and maternal grandfather
Charles Potter.
